Always use only one of the included spacers. 

The DPM Mechanical Recoil Reduction System  is a drop-in upgrade that replaces the factory recoil rod and doesn't require any modifications to your pistol.

The washers only affect the slide’s resistance when fully open, while the external springs only affect how the slide closes (when in battery).
