Article by Mr. George Aggelis at the slip "Law Enforcement & Security" of the gun Magazine "DEFENCE MATTERS", issue September 2003 Gun-transformer (and not only!)
A 100% Greek invention can reverse the data in the use of handguns! The Recoil and the way of its reduction. A patent causes a revolution in the world of arms and change radically the way that see and handle guns for thousands users.
What precisely is this element? It is a system of three springs, with progressive, escalated synergy between them, which replaces the recoil spring and the rod of the gun. It is so simple and so easy. What it does? According to the man who created it, Dimitrios Mantas, active police officer and ex member of Special Depressive Antiterrorist Unit of Greek Police, and also an executive of the company, DPM Systems Technologies Ltd, that manufactures and promotes these products, they offer to the user:
Significant recoil reduction
Better control and greater accuracy
Elimination of jams
Better double-tap concentration
Improved Firing Speed
Faster follow up shots
The meeting with Dimitrios Mantas was set up in few hours. And the same day we went in the shooting range to make some tests.
THE TESTS
Two targets are set up, elbow-to-elbow, the place of shot is selected in a distance about twelve meters. A magazine, with conventional spring, is emptied on a target, with rapid fire, for having a measure of comparison. The system "is charged" in the pistols of trial, a Glock 19 and a Glock 34. First shot tentatively, second-third shots on end. Break.
You look at first the gun, and then the target. The first thought is: "Something is not going right". As the pistol functions faster, more smoothly, you feel as if it teases you, as if someone is making to you a pleasant joke. The continuity is with rapid shot, six bullets are nailed on the target, in distances... stifling up to misunderstanding. Seventh veers a little from the "collection", because of the change of body's poise, on account of the... unconstrained laughter that is coming up! The concentration is telling the entire story! The remainder content of the magazine is focused in other point of the target. The results are alike.
Change of targets, change of pistol as well. In the longer and more balanced Glock, the 34, the level of shot approaches this of a shooting games gun! The rapid shot is enjoyment, the shot in normal rate is distinguished by a word that the morality of our readers us does not allow us to commit to paper...
The first conclusions are that the element of DPM Systems seems to confirm her statements. The recoil's reduction is more than perceptible and the concentration of the firings is considerably improved. The pistol is controlled with bigger facility, a fact that definitely can improve the accuracy in various conditions and parameters of shot. And the circle of operation (detonation-opening of the slide-expulsion of the cartridge -feed - roll back of the slide) seems to comes out faster.
WHAT ABOUT THE JAMS?
IS THERE A BASE AT THE STATEMENT THAT THIS ELEMENT ELIMINATES THEM?
It is obvious that with roughly 150 cartridges, reliable conclusions about the jams and the frequency of appearance or the restriction of them, it is not possible to be exported. The big "disclosure", however, were the shots by limp handhold, that for those who know, is the most important, perhaps, disadvantage of most Glock models. When you hold limply a Glock, it is almost certain that in the first already shots it jams, it "crunches" the cartridge.
During the test both Glocks "swallowed" the content of the magazines, despite the fact that the shots came off by handhold too much limp, to extend of... paralysis!
It is distinct that it is an element that really improves in important degree the possibility of handling a gun, a Glock in this connection. It is also distinct, that because of the attribute and the level of the training of the man who inspired and created it, that system has been designed and "is forged" for the requirements and the needs of official use, that is to say in the real conditions that it is called to face a police officer, a member of the armed forces. Obviously this element can function as "regulator", either facilitating the untrained and inexperienced user of guns, or maximizing the faculties of the best trained and more experienced executive.
Furthermore it is not accidental, that experienced and very well trained police officers make reference with the best comments to the system, front even this "is discovered" by the DPM and begins to go out more widely.
As the DPM Systems informed us, the system of recoil's reduction, currently is manufactured for almost all the models of Glock, while is tested - with amazing results - the corresponding system for the USP Compact of Heckler and Koch and that are already manufactured the prototypes for models of other companies.
We will keep you informed about all the relative developments, as the executives of DPM have on the stocks and certain other, avant-garde and much promising as well, ideas.
For one thing, winter is forecasted very "hot".

Subject: DPM: Mechanical and Magnetomechanical Systems
In the lounge of IWA there is the chance to discover new technical applications. These evolutions may be the fruit of research of big companies departments of studies and lonely inventors as well. It is so that Mr. Dimitrios Mantas, Active Police Officer of his country and inventor, has transversed. Out of all the Greek Police Officer's and inventors today DPM Systems has promoted a product which terminates recoil in the weapons system. The system (PATENTED SYSTEM) is made from a few springs, a small base in the front of the weapon and a magnet. The advantage is better control of the pistol, more accuracy in the secondary sight picture, rapid speed (in double tap), or against moving targets. The system also eliminates jam problems and protects the weapon (frame) from damage. Other additions to this system are not necessary it works perfectly.
Soon this product will be available for all model pistols. Thanks you for the sample it works perfectly.

Dear Mr. Mantas
Since 30 years I have been using the caliber 45 with success. My sport successes were shot with Springfield weapons and they are:
9 times Austrian champion
1 time European Champion in IPSC
2 times European Champion Bianchi Cup
Second Place World Champion Ship Team in IPSC
5 times Winner of European Steel Challenge
Nowadays my favourite pistol is the Glock 21, caliber 45 ACP. I used the DPM Magnetomechanical system in my Glock 21 and I saw the advantages of this system. With the Magnetomechanical system installed it is possible to shoot better times then prior with this pistol. The backstroke of the weapon is less, the weapon is more "quiet" in the hand and therefore it's possible to shoot faster. Of course therefore the resulted time is also better (more hits).
The next European Steel Challenge is placed on 16. 17. June 2006. There is also one class especially for police officers and executives. I would very appreciate if you would have time and would visit us on the next European Steel Challenge.
With the best regards

DPM - Greek Patent for Recoil Reduction
The Greek spirit is in elation! In a country where guns are not manufactured, and their legal use is particularly limited, naturally each related activity has a limited horizon of profitability. But it is in this country where a particularly effective system for recoil reduction was invented and is produced.
It is particularly encouraging that this system was invented, developed, and is produced and available from Greece. The inventor of the system, Mr. Dimitrios Mantas, is for sure a brilliant person. The gravity of a pistol's performance in combat led him to research the further reduction of recoil beyond what common systems offer. His invention also offers benefits for competitive and sporting use of pistols.
The basic concept is a system of three springs with a proportional guide rod, which replaces the standard factory recoil rod and spring set. In the advanced version, a magnet base is added for greater effectiveness.
MECHANICAL SYSTEM OF MULTIPLE SPRINGS
The system of multiple springs is composed of:
a) three springs, different both in cross-section and in power;
b) one guide rod;
c) one pin;
d) two covers, one on each end of the rod.
The three springs function in progressive collaboration with the aforementioned parts during the slide's cycling.
The results are that during its primary positioning, the system exerts the same amount of pressure as the standard factory spring; but in its final phase of coiling, the system exerts 80% more pressure than the factory spring. Consequently, the slide has enough pressure to cycle without jamming, but the felt recoil is extremely reduced.
MAGNETOMECHANICAL SYSTEM
The Magnetomechanical system is composed of a magnet with his base, and the mechanical system of multiple springs, which we already mentioned. The momentary delay in the slide caused by the presence of the magnet allows the maximum amount of gases to escape from the muzzle of the gun. Consequently, the slide moves back more softly, transmitting less kinetic energy to the body of the gun, and accordingly, to the user. Then, the mechanical system of multiple springs functions as a high quality suspension to absorb the remaining kinetic energy of the slide. The entire magnetomechanical system functions as an inertial mechanism for recoil reduction, faster cycling, and protection of the frame.
According to the constructor of the system, its installation in a gun offers the following advantages:
It considerably reduces the recoil.
It improves the firing speed.
It eliminates jams.
It offers better control and greater accuracy.
It considerably improves shot placement and grouping.
It protects the frame and the moving components from deterioration.
It does not require any modification of the gun.
The idea is guaranteed with a patent under the numbers of patent PCT/ GR 2004/000008 and WO 2004/073306 at the European and international levels.
The Magnetomechanical System is made for pistols with accessory rails and is available for the Glock 17/22, 19/23, 25, 31, 37 and 38. Soon it will also be available for models without rails, and distinctly for the Colt 1911-A1 and the Glock 21.
With the Mechanical System there is no need for rails, given that it replaces the factory recoil rod and spring set. It is already available for the Glock 17/22, 19/23, 20, 21, 25, 31, 34/35, 37 and 38; the Sig Sauer P226; the Walther P99; and the Zastava TZ-99. Soon it will be available for the Colt 1911-A1, the CZ P2000, the Glock 30, and the Sig Sauer P228 and P229.
During the discussions we had with Mr. Mantas, he was led to think about the research and production of systems for competitive use.
SYSTEM SPECIFICATIONS
The metal components are manufactured using stainless steel W.-Nr.>/Grade 1.4301 (AISI 304) in metallurgic industry that performs with guarantee of quality ISO 9000. The springs are made from steel with a high carbon content, and coated with cadmium. This coat (which increases the cost) makes the springs more resistant to deterioration. All the sets for Glock models come with two springs, giving the user a choice of spring pressure. The golden spring is 15 pounds, and the silver spring is 16 pounds.
IN ACTION
True, an experienced shooter does not have a problem with accuracy or shot placement, no matter how strong the recoil of the gun. But how many hours of training and how many thousands of rounds should someone spend to reach this level? The reduction of felt recoil, and by extension, recoil of the barrel, increases accuracy for the less experienced shooter. Moreover, the extreme stress of a combat situation is a major factor that influences a shooter's performance, and consequently, the use of his gun.
We tested the Magnetomechanical System, as it already had been installed in a Glock 17, and by this we convey our impressions. First of all, it is a system properly studied and carefully manufactured, so its application does not hamper the smooth functioning of the gun. The impression we collected during the test is particularly positive. The system offers less recoil of the barrel - as it appears also in the photographs - and has the advantage of a faster recovery for the secondary sight picture (proportionate to the faculty of the shooter). In our tests we did not confine ourselves to the classic double tap, but we also shot sequences of four or five shots. The results are shown in the photographs.
DPM Systems is located at Mikras Asias 37, Argiroupolis 16452, Tel/Fax 210-9617153, www.dpmsystems.com. We particularly thank Mr. Dimitrios Mantas for his help, and especially for the time that he invested so we could completely comprehend the details of the system.

Shock absorber
Apart from the fact that the recoil can be unpleasant, it makes the target acquisition more difficult with fast rates of fire. Therefore technical designers and inventors work since more on systems, which reduce the recoil objectively or at least subjectively. On the IWA presented a Greek policeman his system.
It is the physical principle of the momentum conservation, which it ensures that we feel recoil when shooting. Action equal Reaction it is often simplified explained. The impulse, which will transfer to the projectile as well as the gases accelerated forward, is transferred also to the weapon and over these to the Shooter.
Means of the choice. Possibilities for the genuine decrease of the recoil are muzzle brakes. By the partial detour of propulsion gases to the rear total impulse the affecting the weapon is actually measurably reduced. Disadvantages are intensified muzzle lightning and - bang as well as a contactor endangerment by the gases and particles diverted to the rear.
A further possibility is the increase of the weapon weight. The impulse remains the same, the mass inertia of the weapon provides however for a slower, longer return of the weapon. This becomes subjective from protecting as more pleasantly, the recoil therefore as if moderate outstandingly. However a high weapon weight is not always desired, above all if the weapon is to be carried.
Absorption systems take advantage of the delay effect, which knit the existing impulse on a longer time. Already the self load mechanism of semiautomatic weapons has such an effect: A part of the recoil energy goes transferring into the catch mechanism and from there over to the recoil unit retarded to the pistol and thus to the shooter.
The DPM system
The system developed by the Greek Mantas Dimitrios is two-piece developed. Basis is the proven concept of the spring recoil system with return buffer. Here the carriage is element again braked briefly before its rear point of reversal by a recoil. The hard impact metal on metal is moderated, which stretches the recoil and so subjectively reduced as well as besides the material preserves. With the concept one made so far good experiences. Thus SIG SAUER starts the new x-Five/x-Six of models with such a buffer out.
The DPM system uses durable high-grade steel a leadership bar with telescope employment and steel feather/spring buffer. This is more durable than likewise on the market available rubber buffers. The telescope operatives are to a large extent maintenance-free. However it should be held if possible drying, since too much oil with powder could bake and reinforce the buffer. As the second element a very strong permanent magnet is used. It is put to the assembly rail of newer Glock of models. Attachments such as lamps can be put then to the rail of the magnet buffer. The magnet exercises one quite also with the reload noticeable strength on the carriage front as well as the recoil spring bar. The unblocking procedure is braked thereby particularly on the first few millimetre. In the attempt on the shooting range the reduction of the recoil was clearly noticeable, however the magnet buffer disturbed with the getting star. But even without magnet a milder recoil was to be felt. The developer Dimitrios comes from practice. To its training at the police and three years strip service he changed to the "Special Forces", where he remained ten years long. Meanwhile he is responsible for the shooting training.
Editorships the result:
The DPM system is an effective means for the absorption of the recoil. The effect was subjectively clearly noticeable. According to opinion of the tester the effect goes to one however mainly on the account of the leadership with return buffer, in the building of weapons admitted and worked satisfactorily system. Their employment is recommended without reservation. The mechanical recoil system with permanent magnet strengthens the effect still, is however critical of regarding: Since the continuous maximum stress of the magnet is doubtful during strong firing load and the plug-in prepares getting star with many problems, the second part of the invention seems still improvement worthy. An innovation it is in any case.

DPM Systems was not at the show, but it was very well shown at the fair. The product is a magneto-mechanical system, which includes a recoil bow packet with spindles, and a front piece that has a strong magnet. The front piece is installed on the hull of the pistol, in front of the bow of the trigger (for example, in a new standard Glock 17 pistol). The magnet makes the recoil softer at the moment of shooting off, with the recoil bow spindles in the roof of buffer bow. The target is to make it easier to control recoil. Traditional solutions are different kinds of compensators that have been trying inside the recoil bow.

Elimination of recoil
Something that we were waiting for...
A positive sense if somebody uses recoil rod for guns. One of the most advanced types was developed in a Greek company which is named DPM Systems Technologies.
Except of a stainless steel rod with springs with incorporated system of recoil (buffer system) is also used a strong permanent magnet. The magnet is placed in a plastic casing (base) which is attached on the accessory rails of Glock models. There is a small spring in the base so as it can click on the gun. The magnet decelerates the slide's opening, of course without it prevents his regular operation. In combination with the double springed mechanism the third free spring (it is placed in the rod) makes unlocking softer. This system makes softer and more controllable the locking compared to the conventional spring of Glock 17 which needs 2.700 gr. to unlock the slide. The slide is unlocked with the hard (silver) spring in 3.400gr. and with the softer in 3.190gr. The sense of shooting during our tests was softer and with less bounces compared to the standard Glock 17. Each one who uses either self manufactured ammunitions or factorial ammunitions can use the system without the magnet. There is only a disadvantage on the system. When the base with the magnet is placed on the gun it does not get into the regular holsters except the Sickinger Speed - Machine, Rescomp and Fobus Tactical EM 17.
The Magnetomechanical system costs 99,00 EUR and is available for the following models GLOCK 17/22, 19/23, 25, 31. The Mechanical system costs 55,00 EUR and it is available for the following models GLOCK 17/22, 19/23, 21, 25, 31, 34/35,

Evaluation of Magnetomechanical systems for recoil's reduction
Systems for recoil’s restriction upon firing are not something new. A lot of companies manufacture those kinds of mechanisms for both long and short guns. These mechanism function with various standards and have different potency. In the present article we would like to present one of these, manufactured on the base of an interesting idea and intended for the Glock pistols.
CONSTRUCTION AND OPERATION
The whole mechanism is constituted of two parts: of a magnetic plate and a system of 3 recoil springs, of which the work is the deceleration, in the last phase, of the speed of slide’s regression upon firing. Absorbing the recoil energy of gun, the system normalizes the slide’s strike on the frame of gun and the perceptible for the user “kick”. The advantages of the mechanism, reportedly of the constructor, are:
vitiation of felt recoil of gun
vitiation of bounce of gun
shorter harmonisation of shooting parts after the shot
protection of the frame
shorter and better accurate second shot (double tap)
easy and fast assembly of mechanism.
The central recoil spring (5, drawing 2) functions in a steely, cylindrical axis of control (rod) (1), and is supported on the one hand of the front side of the slide (K) and on the other hand in wall of mechanism of control (T). The second and smaller spring (2) with his axis of control (4), is fixed inside the rod (1), suchwise as it appears in the drawing, and leads to base (7), which is supported in the body of barrel. In the front part of rod (B) is also placed a spring (3), secured with a cap. The set is completed of a flat magnet (M), situated at the front surface of the slide, applied in the frame of gun Piccatiny (9).
In disposal state for the shot the springs 2 and 5 work with small strength, as result of the mechanism’s effect in slide. Spring 3 remains free in chamber B, without any initial pressure. Magnet (M) abuts on the front surface the slide and also on the edge of the rod (1), which ends on a metallic cap (6). Upon firing, the increasing pressure of gunpowder’s gases which affects the slide (K) causes regression, facing the force of magnet (M) and begins the compaction of spring (5) at its backwards movement. At the same time, the strength of spring (2) - considerably bigger than the spring (5) - and the attractive power of magnet (M) maintain the cylinder (1) in his initial place, keeping it from moving back. Then, the slide, receding reaches in the `' flange `' (S) of the cylinder (1). At this point the slide recedes with cylinder (1), and the spring (5) is completely compressed. The slide, the spring (5) and the cylinder (1) recede as indiscrete body, pressing the spring (2). Before the wall of the cylinder (T) touch the base of mechanism of control (7), the slide and the cylinder, that recede more and more slow, meet the resistance of spring (3) in chamber (B), which “stops” its back movement. Under the effect of compressed springs (2) and (5), all the body: slide - cylinder begins now the front movement, closing the slide and locking again the barrel.
The whole mechanism functions also without magnet (M). Its role is limited in the deceleration for a flash of slide’s opening and barrel’s opening, increasing by this way the biggest pressure of gases of gunpowder in the barrel. At the Constructor’s claims, this increase causes little bigger initial speed of bullet, as well as changes the gunshot. The constructor proposes two types of spring (5): in golden colour with force 3,75 kG as well as in silver colour, with force 4 kG, is recommend the application of the first with the magnet, and of the most powerful - without magnet. Both two springs can be applied in various compositions of system, alternative, at the estimation of user.
TEST (TRIAL) of the MECHANISM
For the verification and the evaluation of operation of magnetic - mechanic system of recoil’s reduction of gun, we decided to run some simple tests in the shooting range. First of all, we wanted to verify the aspect for the effect of magnet at the moment of slide’s opening and, consequently, for the increase of initial speed of bullet. For that reason we have measured the initial speed of two kind of munitions “full metal jacket”, shot with the pistol Glock 17, with conventional recoil spring, as well as with placed magnetic - mechanic system with spring 4 kG. For the tests we used munitions with bullets of mass 124 gr (8 g) by Magtech company and also with bullets 115 gr (7,.5 g) by Sellier and Bellot company. We measured the speed of bullets with the Master Chrony chronoscope.
CONCLUSIONS
1. We have not realised the effect of magnetic part of mechanism in the initial speed of bullet, for both mass 115 and 124 grain.
2. According to expected, the on average speed of lightest munitions was bigger in both cases.

The second part of test came for the measurement of time of two fast continuous shots to conventional target IPSC from distance of 5 metres. The shooters should get the central field Alpha. The test came with 2 shooters. The first should have shot two fast shots without have targeted (duble tap or dublet) and the second should also shot two fast shots, but under control of foresights (that is to say controlled pair). The test was carried out also with the two pre-mentioned kind of munitions. The results of tests are in the above table.
CONCLUSIONS
1. The magnetic - mechanic system accelerates the implementation of two fast shots double tap and control pair as well, but mainly with lighter munitions.
2. With munitions 124 grain this difference is small and appears without practical importance.
3. At the gunfire with lighter munitions, the profits from the tested mechanism are very obvious.
4. By the occasion, it appeared that upon firing with conventional recoil spring, in both types dublet, the better time have been achieved by shooting with heavy munitions. It appears that the lightest "kick" harder the shooter (although at the measurements of said factorial force at the IPSC lightest they will have smaller force, that is to say theoretically will also be worse).
5. We can realise, that with the application of system the dublet with lighter munitions, are faster, than with the heavier munitions, with the conventional spring and with the magnetic - mechanic system as well.
FINAL CONCLUSIONS
The first remark, after using the "Magnetic - mechanic system of recoil reduction of gun" is, that the work of mechanisms is not disturbed - something, that at first was not by no means sure, on the contrary, we expected some problems in the gun’s operation. That kind of mechanisms often causes various problems. In the case in question we have shot some hundreds shots and did not come up any problem, no jam. In addition our subjective impressions in the subject of tested system interface.
First of all is perceptible the difference between the force of conventional recoil spring and the force of mechanism with combination of springs and magnet, from the moment of arming. For the arming of gun with the tested system installed, it should be used much more strength than usually.
Upon firing, the gun that is equipped with the system behaves completely differently than the gun without it. The recoil and the "kick" are gentler, like it is softer. Simply, the pistol “kicks” less in both kinds of munitions.
Does it worth to be equipped with this system? We believe that each one firstly should tested it by himself and then to make a decision. We inform the interested, that the Constructor and inventor of mechanism is the Greek company DPM Systems Technologies, which can be found in the Internet, in the address www.dpmsystems.com and www.glockuser.com, which manufactures also these systems for some other of the most popular pistols, however without magnetic support. The price of the whole system for the pistol Glock, purchased directly from the Constructor, costs 99 Euros.
We thank Company HEGE for the concession of the chronoscope for the tests that were conducted by the Authors.

Still unknown in the rest of Europe, the Greek constructor of accessories for guns proposes a brilliant system for the recoil reduction. The system is constituted of a guide rod with various concentric springs having each one a different point of compaction and rigidity. This mechanical system allows the progressive movement of the slide so as it better absorbs the recoil. On that we add the internationally deposited magnetomechanical system of base that fits on the accessory rails of Glock pistols and boosts the reduction of recoil in collaboration with the guide rod. The result, therefore, is that the recoil is perfectly absorbed allowing the operation, but the slide is not striking on the body of the gun, offering moreover faster regression of the slide at its initial position, that is to say offering fastest reload, disappearing any bumps of the gun. This system allocates also the rails that allow us to use all the usual and useful accessories without any transformations, while the front part can be used for close point-blank defence or for the opening a door but the slide does not open.

DPM Systems Technologies Mechanical Recoil System for Glock Pistols
At Gunblast.com, we are constantly receiving products for review, some of which are junk, while others prove to be quite useful. Some are good products that simply do not mesh with our interests, while others are good products that would be of interest to at least some of our readers. The product reviewed here fits nicely into the latter category.
A few weeks ago, I was contacted by Mr. Dimitrios Mantas of DPM Systems Technologies, asking if I might be interested in looking at a new recoil spring system for Glock pistols. The Glock is one of the most popular auto pistols in the world, so I judged this might be of interest to many of our readers. Among other things, Mr. Mantas claimed that his spring system reduced felt recoil, improved reliability, enabled faster repeat shots, aided weapon control, and worked as a slide buffer. This piqued my interest, and being that Mr. Mantas was in the country of Greece, he instructed me to contact his distributor for the western hemisphere, Dead Bang Guns and Automatics, which I did.
DPM manufactures two systems for the Glock; one mechanical, and another that adds a magnetic dampener to the system. The mechanical system consists of a multi-spring setup on a stainless guide rod, and adds no attachments to the outside of the pistol, and that is the unit that was sent to me for testing. The unit supplied fits the Glock models 19, 23, and 32. That is Glock's midsize frame, and one that is quite popular with shooters.
The unit supplied to me came with two different springs to fit outside the guide rod. The other springs are captive within the rod. I installed the spring/rod unit into my well-used Glock 19 using what appeared to be the stronger of the two springs. Cycling the slide by hand, one can definitely feel the added resistance near the end of the slide's rearward travel. One cannot "slam" the slide all the way to the rear with the DPM unit. It is as if there is a buffer between the slide and frame. Cycling the slide normally to chamber a cartridge from the magazine is not any harder to do than with the stock spring system.
While by no means a scientific test, I proceeded to shoot the Model 19 with a variety of Plus P and Plus P Plus ammunition; mostly Cor-Bon hollowpoints, along with some of their PowRBall ammo. I cannot prove that the DPM system improves reliability, as this Model 19 has never malfunctioned before, but it is still one hundred percent reliable with the DPM recoil system installed. While the 9mm Luger cartridge is not a hard kicker to begin with, I could feel that the slide was not slamming into the frame as it cycled, as it had before with hot ammo. While this is only a subjective view, the gun feels much smoother in operation now than it did before. Quick double-taps are very controllable with the DPM system installed. The Model 19 now feels more controllable, smoother, and seems to operate "slicker' than it did with the stock system.
While my experience with the DPM system is limited to use with this one Model 19, I am so far impressed. Hopefully, I can try their recoil system with other Glock models soon. I would have liked to have tried it with the Model 20 that I recently reviewed, as with some loads it bucked pretty hard. Also, their magneto-mechanical system seems interesting, but it does attach to the accessory rail of a Glock pistol, and would need a holster that is cut to accommodate the unit. I think that the mechanical system tested here should prove useful to all Glock shooters, particularly competitors and law enforcement personnel. It has no bad characteristics, and the benefits of lighter felt recoil, smoother performance, faster repeat shots, and reduced slide battering should appeal to all Glock users. It sells for just 69 bucks, US, and is money well spent.

M Systems Technologies Mechanical Recoil System for Glock Pistols
DPM Systems Magnetomechanical Recoil System for the S&W M&P Pistol
It has been almost one year since I first reviewed the DPM Systems multi-spring mechanical recoil system for the Glock pistol. Since then, I have met the inventor of DPM Systems, Mr. Dimitrios Mantas, and looked over his products more in depth. He now has systems available for most popular semi-auto pistols. Basically, the mechanical recoil system consists of a stainless guide rod, in which are contained two captive springs, and another spring which slides over the rod. This third spring can be switched to more or less powerful springs to best suit the shooter's choice of ammunition. The DPM unit replaces the pistol's stock spring and guide rod, and can be installed in just a few seconds, without any tools.
The principle behind the three spring system is that is operates more smoothly than the stock unit, and provides a progressive increase of spring tension as the slide moves rearward in recoil, effectively cushioning recoil, and protecting the weapon from battering the slide into the frame as it ends its rearward travel. It works, and works well.
The latest DPM Systems unit that I have been testing is for the Smith & Wesson M&P .40 S&W and 9mm pistol. Having an accessory rail at the bottom of the frame just under the slide, the M&P can use the DPM "Magnetomechanical" system. This system is identical to the mechanical system internally, but adds a magnetic recoil dampener to the accessory rail of the weapon, which by magnetic action, slightly delays the opening of the slide upon firing, further cushioning recoil. I have not the scientific equipment nor the ability to prove the extent at which this works, but it is easily added to the accessory rail without tools, and still allows the use of a light or other accessory as the user desires.
DPM claims that their spring/rod system offers better control of the weapon and aids in accuracy, improves firing speed, and increases weapon reliability. I found these claims to be true in tests on a Glock 19 a few months ago. I was anxious to try the DPM System on the Smith & Wesson M&P. With its superior ergonomics to the Glock, I suspected a very pleasant shooting experience using the M&P with the DPM System installed. As can be clearly seen in the "before and after" videos, once again, the DPM spring system works very well. I tried it with and without the magnetic dampener, and could see little if any difference on the 9mm pistol. Perhaps on a heavy kicker, such as a 10mm or .Plus P .45 ACP, the magnetic dampener will make a big difference. However, I did realize a noted difference in the feel, shooting speed, and control of the 9mm M&P with the DPM unit installed. While the 9mm is not a hard kicker, every little bit of help is appreciated in a defensive weapon, and the improvement provided by the DPM spring unit is a definite aid to fast, accurate shooting. In both the before and after videos, I was shooting the same ammo; Cor-Bon 9mm Plus P 147 grain flatpoint ball. This is no powder puff load. It is quality high performance ammunition, and the DPM unit offered a substantial improvement in weapon control and speed over the stock spring unit. Note the lack of muzzle rise in the video after the DPM unit is installed. The video really tells the story much better than I can with words. In addition to aiding the shooter in accurate rapid fire shooting, the DPM System also cushions the slide to frame battering which occurs as the slide reaches its rearward travel, which should protect both the frame and slide from battering.
In addition to the unit for the S&W M&P pistol, DPM offers their spring system for most popular combat pistols, including the Glock, SIG, CZ, Beretta, and Walther models, with units for the 1911 coming soon.
The DPM Systems recoil reduction spring unit is made of quality materials, is built to last, and I highly recommend it. It gives the shooter a definite edge in both speed and control.

Transformation of GLOCK
CTC LASER GRIP and DPM RECOIL'S REDUCTION
The market is full from accessories that help the implementation of shooting. A big part from this equipment is not useful and their aim is the income of consumers' money from the constructors. Some accessories have the possibility to improve the performance and at the same time they offer better accuracy. Some of the most popular accessories are for the Glock pistols. The accessories that are reported below have been drawn specifically for these pistols.
LASER GRIPS - FORESIGHT LASER
Laser Grips made by the American company Grimson Trace are precisely what says their name. A foresight laser is placed in the grip of gun. Four different categories are manufactured for the Glock pistols and LG 617 fits in models 17, 17L, 22, 24, 31, 34, 35 and 37. The foresight is also available for a lot of other models of pistols, as S&W-Revolver and AR15 rifle.
The Laser Grips is placed in the gun with the help of a pin and its placement requires only a few minutes. During the placement must be followed the instructions of the constructor, because the longer pin that is included in the kit must be placed correctly in the right direction. The constructor has added in the kit a tool that facilitates the placement.
The switch of energy is placed in the back place of gun and it functions with the catch of the handhold of switch which is pressed and it turns on. In actual fact the foresight is always turned on, even if the handhold is caught with mild strength.
There is an important reason for particular attention at the phase of placement and the aim is to align rightly the foresight which according to constructor is regulated in the 50 metres. In smaller distances the foresight shows to the right side of the shooting point, because the unit laser is placed in the right side of gun. If the user wants to set right the foresight he can achieve it with the help of small screw of type ALLEN that is found in the two units of laser. For that reason in the package there is a key ALLEN of thickness of 0,7mm. In actual fact the Laser Grips functions as it is expected: the light is luminous and shines clearly and well against open coloured surfaces and well enough in dark conditions. In conditions of daylight and with dark surface the visibility is enough limited. In tactical use the laser foresight has only an aim, to be used under safe cover. The user that is found under the cover, targets at the sidelong of the cover in the central point of gun's shot.
In private use in shooting the foresight laser gives big advantage to the barrel's alignment, and especially if the shooter has problems with his eyesight. The laser shows very well the errors that remain out of the barrel's alignment and thus the correction is easier. In private use, the use of laser foresight has big value.
The Laser Grips is the better laser foresight that I have ever used, for many reasons. Its use is very easy and let the rails be free for the other accessories and in parallel allows the use of a simple holster. The only disadvantage is that the ray hits the finger that presses the trigger, while the finger is found over the axis of the trigger when we do not intend to shoot.
DPM MULTI-SPRING MAGNETIC SYSTEM
The Greek company DMP Systems Technologies LTD., started in 2003. The main products of the company are accessories that are used to reduce the gun's recoil. The system that was tested this time is constituted of mechanical part that is to say of recoil spring with its rod and by the magnetic part, which is adapted on the accessory rails. The mechanical part can be used alone, but the magnetic part requires the parallel use of the mechanical part. The mechanical part is available not only for the Glock pistols but also for the pistols Sig Sauer P226, Walther P99 and CZ 75 SP01, and includes two different recoil springs. The springs of the tested gun have length 100 and 96mm and the thickness of wire is 1,2mm and 1,1mm. With the results of the test, Glock 17 functions also with the two springs, but with the harder and longer spring, the connection of plunger release push-button in the back place was more uncertain. However, the aim of constructor was that with the change of spring the shooter can regulate the recoil as he wants to.
The heart of metal part is a recoil spring in cylinder. The pin is covered externally from the cylinder and in the internal part it is secured, and absorbs the recoil in the exterior part.
Then, the inflexible pin that exists between the departments decreases the movement in the final phase. That is to say, it is almost a usual recoil spring. The magnetic part is very simply a magnet that has been placed in plastic sheath, which when is placed on the accessory rails abuts against the initial point of the slide. Then, the magnet attracts the slide of the gun and causes a very small delay at the moment of the slide's departure. Basically, this decreases the behaviour of gun as regards the recoil. The magnetic part is not manufactured only for the Glock pistols but also for gun CZ 75 D Compact and CZ 75 SP 01.
In actual fact it is easy to realise the effect of that system, because its behaviour differs a lot than usual. Because of the behaviour of Glock (9x19) as regards the recoil the shooter that has got used the his own style and movements he meets in the beginning some difficulties, because the movements that he has already learned and got used, now they differ.
We made tests by shooting in three targets with double shot from the distance of 10 metres. The maintenance of the interval of time between the number A-target and the double shots using the DPM system requires time of implementation roughly 0,3 seconds more. The cause of difficulty for the experienced users of Glock was the new conditions of recoil which come probably from the inflexible spring buffer and in the recoil spring.
Beginners that do not have any experience and experienced users of G17 as well, have advantage from the system. The time for the target fell from 3,5 seconds in 3. Also, a team of experienced users examined the behaviour in rapid fire that is to say in a distance of 5 metres with full magazine towards the target with the biggest speed and with a view to concentrate all the shots in point A. The equipment offer neither big advantage nor big disadvantage. The time of shots was the same with the equipment and without it, with mean 0,22 seconds when the result on the target was the same, that is to say 20-25 centimetres.
According the tests that we made the mechanism of recoil functions. The Glock 17 that was the subject of the test is a pistol with light enough recoil and thus the real advantage will appear much better in heavier guns. Among the shooters, the beginners receive the direct advantage and also the shooters that use inflexible and dynamic technique. In the rest of the users the improvement of results requires adaptability to the new needs and conditions.

ACCESSORY KIT FOR GLOCK
HISTORY of KIT
The setting of guns is a usual process between the professional shooters. Many times excessive pecuniary sums are spent concerning the profit that they offer and many times in deed the available accessories are not useful. Of course there are also usefully accessories, but there should be the right choice for our own needs.
Not to be given at the rival any advantage without any reason, the setting of gun is very often absolutely necessary. Since all the users do not have the faculty or the disposal to adapt their gun, the company Ef-Security Oy from Seindjoki Finland offers a kit that is named "Pohojalaanen Klokki", and thus the Austrian marvel includes all the essential equipment.
The Pohjojaalanen is constituted of the regular pistol Glock 17 and also from accessories of setting of different constructors and the company Ef-Security is always ready to adapt solutions according to the wish of customer. Below, we refer to the basic merits of Pohojalaanen.
FORESIGHTS
The foresights are produced of the company Heinie Specialty Production and have been manufactured by processed steel. The foresight of the tested gun is black, but there is also available foresight of tritium Tritium dot. At the side view the foresights are high resulting, the optical field is free. The basic raison d'etre of the back foresight is the wish of constructor to offer to the users in the American market, a foresight with which the defective displacement
is achieved easily by the hand. This process overloads foresight and for that reason its placement is secured with screw of type ALLEN. In the surface the foresights have been undergone treatment for the reduction of reflection.
SYSTEM of RECOIL'S REDUCTION
The system of recoil's reduction of DPM Systems Technologies Ltd. is constituted of Mechanical and Magnetomechanical part and has been already presented in our magazine Rekyyli some time ago. Then, it was presented as functional system and as system that requires experience. In the Pohojalaanen has been placed only the mechanic system, rather because the Magnetomechanical system should grow the size of gun so much, that is would not fit almost in no holster.
IMPROVED SHOT
The shot has been improved by far placing in the gun Ghost Incin Rocket Connector, with which the reaction of shot is 3,5 lbr. that is to say 1,59 Klgr. The connectors should be placed depending on the gun that is used and should be regulated rightly so as to be decreased the reaction of next shot. The shot reminds improved and big length Glock, that is to say it is faster and softer if we can talk about gentleness in the case of Glock. The bigger differences with the basic part are the clapper for the trigger's control and the fillister of fragments and their role is the operation of gun even if it is very dirty. The company Chost Inc. manufactures also other connectors but for different aims, but the Rocket is addressed to sports and self-defence guns.
MORE SURFACE of GRIP
As we all know the grip of Glock, glides, and for that reason a decal-Film of grip has been stuck. It is not common film of grip, but surface of grip, which has been drawn, according to needs of each gun and which is placed by the same way. Because, the film of gun-grip is fat enough, this has as result that the grip is fatter and angular. The angles improve the sense of target's stability, because then you feel more easily the way that you hold the guns in your hands. The grip is very good, without the surface of grip-film being like sandpaper, but it is hard and rough, synthetic caoutchouc. The constructor has also available the sandpaper film.
PLUNGER of MAGAZINE'S RELEASE AND ENLARGEMENT of ORIFICE of MAGAZINE HOLE
The JP Enterprises Inc button of magazine's release is a good accessory, which helps particularly the shooters with short fingers. The plunger is made of rough and hard caoutchouc and it is secured with an allen screw. Besides the fact that it is taller, it brings the plunger little closer, the release of button is easier and is also achieved without it need to move the handhold of hand on the gun.
Also the Pohojalaanen mag well that is to say "the enlargement of the hole of orifice where enters the magazine" is a product of JP Enterprice. The material is steel 6061 which has been processed with the method of CNC and the colour of its surface is black. The placement does not require any changes in the frame of the gun and the fact that it is made of steel does not change the gun's centre of gravity.
LONGER PLUNGER
The bottom of the magazine, made by Arredondo Accessories'in, increases the magazine's capacity for the Glock 9X19 at four more bullets and respectively for the 40 S&W at three more bullets. With the extension is delivered also a spring Wolf -10% for the magazine's operation. Nor the importer himself has achieved while this article is being written, only 20 bullets in the magazine, but it was realised, that the magazine accommodates easily the bullets. The particular elements that are placed on the magazine's bottom belong in category IPSC Standard. The tall foresights can cause some problems.
AND AFTERWARDS?
To can comprehend the meaning of all them, we tested the gun. Because, it is a Glock pistol with regularly characteristics of accuracy, there was no reason to make tests of accuracy. On the contrary, with the Rekyyli were shot many shots and have been used as targets, boards of training rooms. The count of points was based on how much shots we succeed to shoot in one second with three shots from the distance of 10 metres. The guns of comparison were Glock 17 and Glock 19 Pro, which are favourites of tester. The result of shooting test was a surprise. Or if we think better, rather they were not.
Examining only the speed of shooting, it can be observed, that the total differs at some way from the basic guns. Because, the time interval that exists from the first shot up to the last is 0,45-0,5 seconds longer the performance is slower than the other guns. The reason is that the foresights are taller and the shooter needs longer period of adjustment to get used of it. Other probable reason is that the system of recoil's control alters the behaviour of gun and complicates the user that is used to use a simple Glock and it has not been told to him about the modification before the test.
The regulated gun took the last place in the comparison of grades with 17,7 grades per second, concerning the G17, that took 19,1 grades per second and G19 Pron with 20,6 grades per second. If we do not calculate the time and examine only the grades, all the guns and their records brought almost the same results, 45-52 degrees and in this case did not exist any difference in the guns.
With base the result of the test, it would be easy to draw immediately our conclusion and to say that the Pohojalaanen Klokki does not function. But, this conclusion would be wrong, because the result shows, that with the regulation has been achieved real change in the gun. Of course during the test that is short the relation of lasting practice and training with the basic model can not be broken. The opinion of the shooter who made the test is very positive and the regulation did not take any negative comments. Very good comments took the non-skid film and plunger of slide's release and the shots were qualified successful. The shooter's final evaluation is that after getting used in the modified gun will be possible to achieve good results in the firing speed as well. The bigger difficulty for the shooter was to adjust in the higher shooting line. The user that has got used in regular magazine's opening feels that the plunger may come out from the gun.
During the test of this feature we realised, the unique constructional disadvantage of the kit. The extended accessory that is placed at the bottom side of the magazine is large and the constructor advertises it as an accessory that it is almost impossible to spoil, but during the test, the first unit spoiled at the fifth effort on the cementitious surface. At that moment there were four bullets in the plunger.
Even a simple accessory at the bottom side of the magazine can bear such type of falls almost without limits, and for that reason the second accessory had during the test harder treatment. The element that it spoiled should be defective, or there was a constructional problem or there was fault on material, because the second accessory bore falls without any damage.
CONCLUSION
The Pohojaalanen Klokki is addressed to users that intend to buy a new gun and know from the beginning that they are going to set it later with additional accessories. The selected parts of the kit are functional and there are not observed any problems nor in the quality and thus you are not to have the fear, that you loose your money. Also such a rich kit should not replace the training. Even in this case the profit of setting is achieved with a pile of hard work.
Article in "GUNS B.G" 2006/11 (Bulgaria)
Article written by Mr. Vladimir Peev in GUNS. BG issue of November 2006 (Bulgaria)
NEWS
An ex member of antiterrorist team and actual permanent Police officer invented a mechanism for the recoil's reduction of guns, which quickly became acquaintance in the international market. In relation to a lot of other mechanisms of this type, his mechanism really works!
ΝREDUCE THE RECOIL (DPM- SYSTEMS)
The recoil is one of the most unpleasant effects upon firing, more specifically when it is a matter of fast shot in sporting shooting. This is direct result of shot, while its force depends on the mass of the bullet, on the charge of gunpowder that exists behind the bullet and on the mass of the gun. As heavier and faster is the bullet, so much stronger is the recoil, as heavier is the gun so much softer is the recoil. The recoil is the vibration that the shooter feels upon shooting, the barrel's bounce is the secondary effect and it depends on the construction of the gun.
Upon shooting when the bullet leaves the barrel, the gases of high pressure that are pushing it, push also the slide back and cause a shift that is parallel and coincides with the barrel's axis. On the other hand, for the hand that supports the arm, the shift is also parallel with opposite direction of impulse force, which is created by the produced gases. The distance between the two opposite shifts determines the force of (propensity of rotation) torque. That is to say as long as more remote are the shifts by the conceivable axes so much more possible is the (propensity of rotation) torque and the corresponding barrel's bounce. On the contrary as closer in the conceivable axes this shifts are found, so much smaller will be the (propensity of rotation) torque.
For this reason the pistols in which the barrel is placed high, as the Sig Sauer P226, jerk more at the shot in relation to the Glock 17 the barrel of which is placed down. In the pistols of rapid fire, the barrel is placed so much down that the mechanism of the slide and the magazine are placed almost in the front side of the grip.
In the automatic guns, like pistols, the slide's movement backwards creates other datum that increases the bounce - that is to say of the slide's strike against the frame when it reaches the final position. This strike is parallel to the axis and consequently it increases additionally the torque at the final phase of recoil.
Existing systems of recoil's reduction are of three basic types.
The first system is the addition of extra weight under the gun's barrel. This is applicable only in the guns of sporting shooting, and it is not applied in the official guns, which are intended for self-protection or for dynamic sporting shooting.
The second system and rather more effective than the first, is the system of compensator of gases' escape (Flash Suppressor). This system puts on redirection the gases of the barrel, in direction that is opposite to the direction of torque that is created at the recoil, in this way the barrel is pushed down.
The compensator requires two arrangements: the first is the gun's dimensions; the compensator increases its length. The second arrangement is the decreased initial speed of bullet. When we have compensator for the decrease of gun's reaction and because of the fact that it is constituted of serial perpendicular sections in the edge of the barrel, that is to say the barrel have holes, and there is loss of gases which promote the bullet.
There is also other mechanism that resembles too much the compensator, however it functions in different way and it is named muzzle brake. Its difference to the compensator, who directs the gases only up, is that the muzzle brake directs the larger percentage of gases left and right or round the barrel at 360 degrees, so as to decrease the impellent force of torque that is created upon shooting. Also muzzle brakes, similar to the compensator, are some certain systems that increase the gun's dimensions, but they cannot however be applied in small semi-automatic guns.
The third system of recoil's reduction, are the mechanisms of damping or mechanisms of reversible springs of type absorber, that is to say a lot of springs that replace the basic spring of slide's rollback. Their effect is less than the effect of compensator but the mechanism of damping of many springs is most popular, because it does not change neither the dimensions of the gun nor the initial speed of bullet. Guns with such system can not be compared with the guns in which is not placed this system. The difference is noticeable upon firing and it is even more detectable the result of mechanism of multiple springs when the munitions of gun are heavier.
The systems of recoil's reduction that exist in the present, have a basic, softer spring, behind which is placed a second harder and shorter spring, which has the role to make softer the last ramming of the slide on the frame.
The system of multiple springs, which was developed by Greek ex-commando and in the present Police Officer Dimitrios Mantas, is constituted of three springs connected in a mechanism of absorber's type, and in the opinion of many special gun-magazines and of many laboratories it is the most effective system for recoil's reduction, that was invented till now. The company of production is named "DPM Systems Technologies Ltd."
The system is constituted of central punched axis with gradual widening in the back 1/3 of its length and externally, in the central axis is placed a second thinner axis. Round the big axis there is the first big spring and round the thinnest axis there is the second, hardest spring, which is placed in the back widening of big axis. In the front side of the central axis is placed the third harder spring. The point of mechanism is to decrease the speed of slide as far as possible by a soft and transitional way, so when the slide approaches at its final place to bring on minimal energy and not to be a direct bump on the frame.
HOW IT FUNCTIONS?
The moment that the bullet upon firing leaves from the barrel, the impulse, that is abruptly created, pushes the slide back, to the moment that the barrel is unlocked of the slide's slots, while the slide is still moving back because of momentum. At this phase firstly the bigger and softer spring starts compressing, till the slide reaches the widening of axis, then this spring stops compressing.
From this moment and on begins compressing the second, harder spring, the axis of which some time abuts against the third harder spring and begins compressing it until the slide's momentum to become equal with the total force of resistance that the three springs offer. At this phase the slide stops its back movement and compelled by the three springs returns forward while drives the next bullet from the magazine and places it in the chamber and it secures again the barrel.
Thus the three springs in specific order of application increase gradually the force with which they react in the slide, decreasing effect of recoil at the shooter, as well as barrel's bounce, because of the smaller slide's vibration (impulse) on the frame. I do not use accidentally the word vibration (impulse), because in this case the bump of the slide on the frame simply does not exist. The sense upon shooting is soft and the recoil is better controlled, without becomes detectable the blow (of hammer) at the hand and appears clearly the less recoil of gun.
Dimitrios additionally created also the Magnetomechanical mechanism for the recoil's reduction, which is achieved with the addition of magnet in the mechanism that already exists. The magnet is incorporated in multilateral base that is placed on the accessory rails, so the magnet applies in front of the slide's forehead under the barrel.
The idea for this mechanism was given birth during the service of Dimitrios while he was working with the pistol Glock. The role of magnet is to make softer the initial vibration on the slide and after the shot to attract it back mightily so as to ensure its reliable operation. The second advantage of this base is operational. In all the pistols of moving slide, if the enemy presses with the hand, he will move the slide and the barrel back and therefore the mechanism of trigger and the mechanism of firing pin are disassembled and the shot is impossible. The base placed in front of the slide's forehead does not allow this disassembly.
WHAT IS THE OPINION OF THE LABORATORIES WHICH TESTED THE DPM SYSTEM?
In the first place it is the effective reduction of recoil, the shooter does not feel the bounce of gun after the shot, this increases the life of gun, because it minimises the dynamic burden on its mechanisms.
Secondly, because of the system of multiple springs, after the shooting the slide comes back with bigger speed, and this decreases the possibility of jams while it enables the experienced shooter to shot right along and faster.
In the Magnetomechanical mechanism, the initial force of slide's unlocking of Glock 17 comes up to 7,3 Kg.
But in the case that is used the factorial spring or the DPM mechanical system for recoil's reduction it comes up only to 4 Kg.
In the same pistol, in the factorial spring the resistance that brings the recoil spring is 4 Kg, which in the final place of slide's slide is increased progressively in 6,8 Kg. At the tests of DPM system of recoil's reduction the slide unlocks with force 4 Kg, which however in the final place of the course is increased progressively in 11,7 Kg. In the Magnetomechanical mechanism of DPM the initial vibration of slide's unlocking is in 7,3 Kg, after the unlocking the resistance is decreased in 4 Kg and is increased smoothly to about 12 Kg.
It was our turn to try the mechanism of DPM. We collected certain individuals: us from the GUNS-BG, as well as the specialist of shooting MILEN DIMITROF. He had the honour to test the Magnetomechanical mechanism on his own Glock 17. His first impression was that the recoil really becomes softer, the gun is better controlled and the line of cock-shy is reconverted faster. He expressed also the same impression after having shot 100 bullets. At the test he was alternating two pistols - the one with conventional spring and the other with DPM.
In the accuracy of the two guns there was not big difference. The difference was showed by the chronoscope PAC-TIMER, at the shot with conventional spring the chronoscope showed that the time between the two shots was 0,18 sec., while at the shot with DPM it was decreased to 0,13 sec. At the analysis of tests via video picture, in the frame by frame pictures it shows clearly that the pistol with the Magnetomechanical mechanism bounds least.
During the last tentative shots with the DPM in Glock 17.
It was then that MILEN find out, that with the DPM mechanism he does not lose even for a moment the line of cock-shy. We tested also pistols of type SIG SAUER 9X19 and SIG SAUER 229, S&W 40 without using the magnet. My impressions was, that it really feels different regarding the recoil, however in no case it is not thus as if does not exist recoil. In the nature nothing is lost, consequently and the energy of recoil. The matter is that here this energy lessens very much. Actually the video showed the big difference between the conventional and the DPM spring as far as I felt, in any case the human estimate is always subjective, with difficulty you can feel something that happens in a split-second.
Finally at the fast shots with the DPM mechanism, the groups of shots were very well gathered and this, for me personally, is indicative for the effectiveness of mechanism. I felt the biggest reduction of recoil shooting with 40 S&W. After the tests that we went through, I offered the springs to some friends of mine for testing them. The impressions were: "I feel something, however the difference is not that much big" to "Fabulous!!! I want to buy it immediately ". The shooter who had the better impressions tested it in pistol 357 SIG!!!.
The DPM mechanism of recoil's reduction is offered for the entire range of Glock, Sig Sauer, CZ, Beretta, S&W and Zastava. Soon mechanisms for other types and models are expected to come in the market. Soon these products will also come in the Bulgarian market; the probable price will be about 100 leva for the mechanism without magnet and 146 leva for the mechanism with magnet, for comparison the corresponding prices in Europe amounts in 55 and 85 Euros. THE DPM REDUCER OF RECOIL
By the famous Greek company DPM of Athens, these days have been presented in our market and we had the chance to test, two systems of firearms´ recoil reduction.
First is the classical mechanical, with the already known system of utilization of multiple springs, set one inside the other, but there is also a third spring (free of pressure) inside the telescopic rod, by which the slide is delayed in the end of its regression, upon firing.
Even by using only this system the big recoil is reduced, the bounce of the barrel´ s muzzle is partly decreased and the life of pistol is extended. This mechanic system is offered for the moment for the most known pistols internationally: Sig-Sauer, Glock, Czech CZ, Walter, STI, but also for the domestic Zastava CZ99, therefore it constitutes also a pleasant surprise.
The second offered system, called magnetomechanical (magnetic-mechanic), is even more unconventional and more uncommon and it is constituted by the application of the pre-mentioned reducer (mechanical system), in combination with a plastic base, which is placed on the accessory rails (Picatinni) instead of lens or laser and on which base is placed a powerful magnet.
Mission of the magnet is to decelerate, by the magnetic attraction, partly the slide at initial moment of regression, which also and in proportional degree, depreciates the caused recoil and the bounce of pistol.
The magnetomechanical system is produced for the moment only for the Czech CZ pistols and for the GLOCK (for these models that have incorporated accessory rails (Picatinni)).
By the application of this system, the manufacturer guarantees the drastic reduction of recoil and muzzle’s bounce, but also at the action, these new systems seem to be more effective, than those that we have seen until now.
